Abhishek Sharma smashed his first-ever IPL century in a dazzling performance against Punjab Kings (PBKS) during match No. 27 of IPL 2025. The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener achieved this milestone at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Sharma reached his century in just 40 balls, boasting an impressive strike rate of over 245. He was eventually dismissed for 141 runs, having hammered 10 sixes and 14 boundaries in his remarkable knock. Alongside him, Travis Head contributed to a record-breaking opening partnership of 171 runs, with Head scoring 66 runs off 37 balls before being dismissed.

In the end, Pat Cummins‘ SRH successfully chased down the target, securing an eight-wicket victory with nine balls to spare. They finished with a total of 247/2, marking the second-highest successful run chase in IPL history. Earlier, the visitors posted their second-highest team total in IPL history. Openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran played aggressive knocks, scoring 36 and 42 runs, respectively.
Captain Shreyas Iyer then took charge, blasting a brilliant 36-ball 82 to help PBKS reach a formidable total of 245/6. During his innings, Iyer hit six sixes and six boundaries. For SRH, Harshal Patel claimed four wickets, while debutant Eshan Malinga took two wickets.
