IPL 2025: Harry Brook, the newly appointed white-ball captain of England, recently discussed his two-year suspension from the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). Brook was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.2 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction, but he opted to withdraw from the high-paying contract just days before the tournament’s start to stay fresh for international commitments with England. As a result, he has been banned from entering the auction for the next two seasons.

Harry Brook, the new white-ball captain of England, has spoken about his two-year ban from the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). Brook was picked by Delhi Capitals for ₹6.2 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. But just before the tournament began, he chose to cancel the deal so he could stay fresh and fully focused on playing for England.

Because of this, the IPL 2025 has banned him from joining the auction for the next two seasons.

Brook said he’s okay with stepping away from franchise cricket for now so he can give his best for England. He told The Mirror:

“England is my main goal. Playing for my country means the most to me. Franchise leagues can wait. I love playing for England more than anything. Losing some money is not a big deal if it means I can play for England.”

“They didn’t tell me directly,” he said. “But if I am banned, that’s fair. They have their rules. I just want to focus on England.”

Brook has taken over the captaincy from Jos Buttler and has the responsibility to help England bounce back in both ODIs and T20s after some poor performances in recent global tournaments.

Besides white-ball cricket, Brook is also an important player for England in Test matches (red-ball cricket). From now until January (end of the Ashes), England has 11 Test matches scheduled. Brook might also play in 12 ODIs and 15 T20 matches to prepare for the T20 World Cup happening in February next year.
